Executive team

Mr Reilly is an experienced asset management executive with more than 30 years’ experience in international and domestic asset management, banking and the finance sector.

Skills and experience

Prior to joining Perpetual, Mr Reilly was Chief Executive of Australian Retirement Trust (ART), overseeing the successful merger and integration of Sunsuper and QSuper to form ART in February 2022. Today, the fund manages over A$300bn on behalf of 2.4 million members.

Prior to Australian Retirement Trust, Mr Reilly was CEO of Sunsuper (from 2019 to 2022) and Head of NAB Asset Management (from 2015 to 2016).

Mr Reilly spent over 24 years at State Street Global Advisors in various senior roles, including Executive Vice President, Global Head of Strategy (Boston) and Head of Asia Pacific, Hong Kong and Sydney. As Head of Asia Pacific, Mr Reilly oversaw State Street’s Asia business and the doubling of Assets Under Management (AUM) in the region to US$325 billion, while growing profitability.

Suzanne joined Perpetual Group in July 2025 as Chief Financial Officer. 

Suzanne has more than 25 years’ experience in senior executive roles in finance, strategy, investor relations functions across asset management, banking, insurance and property industries.

Prior to joining Perpetual, Suzanne held the roles of Head of Strategy and then Chief Financial & Strategy Officer at First Sentier Investors between 2017 and 2025. Prior to First Sentier, Suzanne held senior executive roles at Lendlease and Challenger.

Allan has over 25 years’ experience in providing risk, assurance and advisory services to multinationals in the financial services sector across the funds management, banking, insurance, trustee and advice sectors, working within the Big 4 environment and with large international and ASX-listed organisations.

 
Allan joined Perpetual Limited’s Internal Audit function in February 2010 and was appointed Head of Internal Audit in May 2016. Allan held this role until being appointed Head of Risk in October 2019 and General Manager Risk and Business Partnering in July 2021, where he was instrumental in developing a risk management framework and led Operational Due Diligence for M&A transactions across the Group.  In August 2022 Allan relocated to Boston and is the Head of Business Management & Strategy, Asset Management Americas overseeing the entire Asset Management US business.

Mr Lo Proto was promoted to Chief Risk Officer on 1 January 2025 and is a member of Perpetual’s Executive Team, reporting into the CEO. He will assume this role in addition to his existing US Business Management & Strategy role. As Chief Risk Officer, Mr. Lo Proto is responsible for leading the Global Legal, Audit, Risk, Compliance, Company Secretariat and Sustainability at Perpetual.

Prior to his roles at Perpetual, Allan worked for ING and PricewaterhouseCoopers in Internal and External Audit and holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting).

Helen joined Perpetual in July 2025 as General Counsel.

Helen is a highly motivated and experienced strategic, legal and governance adviser, with a passion for people and their wellbeing. She has more than 22 years of experience working within a range of corporate environments such as Blackmores, Westpac, Wells Fargo and Macquarie Bank. She has a particular interest in merger and acquisitions, negotiating complex contractual arrangements, providing advice on regulatory and governance issues and cross-border commercial transactions. Helen is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia. 

James joined Perpetual in November 2024 as Chief Operating Officer after an extensive executive career at State Street Global Advisors.

James’ experience spans a 30-year career in funds management, most recently serving as Head of Asia Pacific for State Street Global Advisors. Prior roles include Asia Pacific Chief Operating Officer and International Head of Technology and Operations for SSGA based in London.  

He has worked in a wide variety of roles in Asia, India and Europe and has deep experience in all aspects of funds management including business development, strategy and transformation, product, operations and technology.

He has extensive governance expertise serving as Chair and Director of numerous boards and regulated entities both in Australia and internationally. He is currently Chair and Non-Executive Director of Neuroscience Research Australia (NeuRA).

Richard was appointed Group Executive of PCT in September 2018 and was appointed Chief Executive of PCT in January 2023 following the acquisition of Pendal Group. 

Richard joined Perpetual in 2007 as Director Sales and Relationship Management and prior to his current role, was General Manager, Trust and Fund Services from 2012 to 2018.  

Prior to joining Perpetual, Richard worked at Chemical Bank’s Global Custodian business in Cardiff, Wales. Chemical Bank merged with Chase Manhattan Bank in 1996. Richard moved to Sydney in 2003 as Vice President, to integrate the acquisition of Guardian Trust and grow the Australian business. He became VP, Head of Relationship Management at BNY Mellon’s Corporate Trust Division in Sydney following the sale of JPM Corporate Trust business in 2006. 

He has over 25 years’ global executive leadership experience in banking and financial services, with deep sector knowledge in debt capital markets, managed funds, data and analytics, and M&A.

Mark joined Perpetual as Group Executive of PP in November 2012 and was appointed Chief Executive of PP in January 2023 following the acquisition of Pendal Group. 

At Perpetual, he leads the Group’s wealth business, which includes the philanthropic, trustee and high net worth advisory businesses, as well as Fordham, a business specialising in accounting and advisory services to business owners.  

He is also the Chair of the Noongar Boodja Investment Committee and group sponsor of Perpetual's Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan. 

Mark has over 25 years’ financial services experience, gained predominantly at BT Financial Group and Pendal Asset management where he led marketing leading businesses focused on Platforms, Asset Management and Insurance.
